Our Story

When Chris Woods, an avid cyclist, was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease at the age of 41, the mission of the Woods family, with his 73 year old parents, Edna & Bob, leading the charge, was to find a cycling event that raised money specifically for Parkinson’s research.

For years Chris had been riding in the 150 mile Diabetes ride and the 150 mile MS ride but had never heard of one for PD.  After much research, it became clear that there was nothing in the country, let alone the New England area, so the family decided to organize their own!

Frequently Asked Questions

We organize the New England Parkinson’s Ride to raise critical funds for Parkinson’s research for better treatments and ultimately a cure.
We offer multiple route options designed for all skill levels, from beginner-friendly short rides to more challenging long-distance courses. Our route distances include 10, 30, 50, 62, and 100 miles.
We include rider support such as well stocked rest stops, route guidance, safety monitoring,, and SAG on the routes. Our registration also provides an event t-shirt, lunch, giveaway, chipped bib, and beer at the end of the Ride (wine and non-alcoholic options available).
We welcome cyclists of all ages and experience levels, along with families, teams, and supporters. Whether riding, volunteering, or cheering, anyone passionate about making a difference in the Parkinson’s community can participate and contribute to our mission.
We prioritize rider safety through well-marked routes, on-course support teams, medical assistance, rest stops, and police presence at certain crossesOur event includes trained staff, volunteers, and coordination with local authorities to ensure a secure and well-managed cycling environment for all participants.
We offer a variety of volunteer opportunities, including event setup, rider support, registration assistance, and rest stop management. Volunteers play a vital role in our success, and we make it easy to sign up, contribute time, and support our cause meaningfully.
We stand out by directing 100% of rider-raised funds to Parkinson’s research. Our strong community focus, transparency, and commitment to impact create a meaningful experience that goes beyond cycling, making every mile ridden truly purposeful.
We provide easy-to-use fundraising tools, personalized pages, and guidance to help participants succeed. Sharing stories, engaging with networks, and setting clear goals are effective strategies we encourage to maximize contributions and support our mission.
We recommend preparing with proper training, bike maintenance, hydration plans, and appropriate gear. Reviewing route details and safety guidelines ensures a smooth experience. Our goal is to help every rider feel confident, comfortable, and ready for the event.
We provide an opportunity to support a meaningful cause, connect with a passionate community, and promote health and wellness. Participants gain a sense of purpose, raise awareness, and contribute directly to advancing Parkinson’s research and support initiatives.
